China-Europe Railway Express annual trips increased by 10.8 times over the past decade

China News Service, Beijing, June 19 (Reporter Liu Wenwen) The reporter learned from China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Railway) on the 19th that June this year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the unified brand for China-Europe Railway Express. From 2016 to 2025, the annual number of China-Europe Railway Express trips increased by 10.8 times, injecting strong momentum into promoting economic and trade exchanges between Asia and Europe and serving the high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.

According to the Logistics Center of China Railway, since the official launch of the unified brand for China-Europe Railway Express on June 8, 2016, the service has fully leveraged its advantages of large capacity, all-weather operation, safety, and stability, gaining favor in the international logistics market. The scale of operations has continued to expand, with the annual number of trips growing from 1,702 in 2016 to 20,022 in 2025, an increase of 10.8 times over ten years, with an average annual growth rate of 31.5%.

According to reports, the categories of goods transported by China-Europe Railway Express have gradually expanded from initial information technology (IT) products such as mobile phones and computers to 53 categories and over 50,000 types of commodities, including clothing, shoes and hats, automobiles and parts, grain, wine, coffee beans, and timber. In 2025, the value of goods transported by China-Europe Railway Express reached 67.7 billion U.S. dollars, effectively meeting the production and living needs of people in countries and regions along the route, becoming a “fast track” for Chinese manufacturing to go global and for European agricultural and livestock products, chemical raw materials, and consumer goods to enter China.

Currently, 129 cities in China have launched China-Europe Railway Express services, reaching 236 cities in 26 European countries, an increase of 113 and 216 cities respectively compared to 2016, with the service scope basically covering the entire Asia-Europe region.
