The Superintendence of the Port of Itajaí received representatives from the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq) for a technical visit to the port complex. The agenda was routine and is part of the monitoring activities carried out by the regulatory agency, responsible for supervising and inspecting port infrastructure and services in the country.
The program began with an institutional meeting at the Superintendence headquarters. Afterwards, the delegation took a boat tour along the terminal waterfront and the access channel to technically monitor the areas covered in the process of expanding the perimeter of the Organized Port of Itajaí.
During the meeting, strategic topics for the future of the Port of Itajaí were discussed, including the concession of the access channel, the definitive concession of the port terminal, and the expansion of the Organized Port perimeter. The Superintendence also presented to the Antaq team the results of the Port’s operational recovery, highlighting the growth in cargo handling and recent operations.
Among the highlights presented was the operation of the ship BYD Changsha, which made its only stop in Brazil at the Port of Itajaí and unloaded 7,216 vehicles in a single operation, reinforcing the moment of recovery of the port complex’s activities.
For the director of Antaq, Wilson Pereira de Lima Filho, the visit reinforces the importance of the Port of Itajaí for the national port system.
“For me, it is always a source of great satisfaction to visit the Port of Itajaí. I have a very special affection for this port. We are monitoring two very important processes: the definitive concession of the terminal and the concession of the access channel,” he highlighted.
The superintendent of the Port of Itajaí, Artur Antunes Pereira, emphasized the importance of the agenda for alignment between the port authority and the regulatory agency.
“We received the director of Antaq amidst very important discussions, such as the concession of the port complex’s access channel and the definitive concession of the terminal. We managed to dialogue, discuss technical issues, and present the needs of the Port of Itajaí as a public port,” he stated.
