In the early morning hours today, the Greek rescue ship “Aigaion Pelagos” managed to successfully moor the tanker, of Maltese flag, and to remove it from the area.
On board the “YM JUPITER” were 17 crew members, all Turkish nationals, while the ship is carrying approximately 5,000 metric tons of petroleum products.
During the incident, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) had appealed to passing vessels to maintain heightened vigilance and readiness to provide assistance, should this be deemed necessary.
