Digital tools support asset maintenance, crewing, procurement and document management on a CMA CGM-chartered container ship and a major port in the Indian Ocean
Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion and Djibouti Shipping have both adopted software for digitalising port operations and environmental performance tracking.
The port on the Indian Ocean island of Réunion is using digital tools to improve maintenance of port equipment, ordering of spares and automated documentation.
Djibouti Shipping has deployed programs on container ship Africa Sun, which it charters to CMA CGM to serve a regular Red Sea route calling at Djibouti, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Mombasa, Kenya.
Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion has grown to become France’s fourth largest container port and an Indian Ocean transshipment hub and has a naval base, ship repair yard, a cruise ship terminal and a fishing harbour.
At the centre of its container business is its Dock Titan, a 120 m by 32 m, 4,600-tonne lifting capacity crane system, which is the largest ship lift in the area.
In 2026, Grand Port Maritime installed BoatOn Book software to co-ordinate maintenance, task scheduling and tracking, spare parts inventory and supplier ordering for Dock Titan.
Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion superintendent, Karine, said the program “allows us to co-ordinate Dock Titan’s maintenance and maintain complete traceability on all interventions.”
