PIOMBINO – Presented at the dock of the Industrial Port of Piombino the new pneumatic boat that becomes part of the equipment of the local Fire Brigade Detachment. The vessel represents an important enhancement of operational capabilities dedicated to sea rescue.
The purchase of the craft implements the Framework Agreement signed on 23 December 2023 between the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority and the Livorno Fire Brigade Command, confirming the shared commitment to strengthening safety in port areas.
Specifically designed for surface water rescue, the new pneumatic boat is 7.50 meters long and is equipped with two Yamaha 115 HP outboard motors each, features that allow it to operate quickly and effectively in emergency activities.
During the presentation ceremony, representatives of the involved institutions took part. The commander of the Livorno Fire Brigade, Pietro Vincenzo Raschillà, extended thanks to the president of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority, Davide Gariglio, present together with manager Cinthia De Luca and the management staff of the Piombino office, for the funding that made the purchase of the new vessel possible.
During the meeting, Raschillà highlighted how this new strategic equipment will help strengthen the system for safeguarding human life at sea coordinated by the Coast Guard, represented at the event by Lieutenant Marco Merico.
«Safety within our ports and in the adjacent waters represents an absolute priority for the Port System Authority» declared the president of the AdSP Gariglio, recalling that the funding of this new state-of-the-art vessel is not an isolated act but reflects the effectiveness of the Framework Agreement signed with the Fire Brigade Command. «Actively collaborating with the National Corps and the Coast Guard allows us to create an increasingly timely and modern civil protection and port network, to the total benefit of the community of Piombino, maritime workers and all citizens» he concluded.
