From June 29 to 30, the 2nd and 3rd vessels of the 1250TEU methanol dual-fuel open-top container ships built by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for Germany’s Elbdeich company were successfully delivered. With this, Huangpu Wenchong has exceeded its first-half ship delivery target.

This type of vessel was developed and designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI). It has a total length of 148 meters and a molded breadth of 27.2 meters. It is a new type of environmentally friendly vessel using methanol and fuel oil dual fuel and EGR, meeting the Tier III emission requirements of the International Maritime Organization. Its overall performance and construction quality have reached internationally first-class standards. As a new generation of green vessel integrating environmental protection, energy saving, high efficiency, and economy, it helps the shipowner practice low-carbon shipping and achieve decarbonization goals.

Against the current trend of accelerating low-carbon transformation in the global shipping industry, green-powered vessels will significantly reduce the shipowner’s compliance costs and carbon emission pressure. After delivery, this series of vessels will help the shipowner seize the first-mover advantage in green shipping capacity in cross-ocean trade transportation and build long-term market competitive advantages.

In the first half of 2026, Huangpu Wenchong’s civil ship segment completed and delivered a total of 19 vessels, achieving 136% of the half-year delivery plan and exceeding the group’s target. Among them, the main batch products built by the Ship and Offshore Division continued to maintain a rhythm of early, more, and fast delivery. The 17 vessels delivered in the first half of the year were delivered a total of 1,504 days earlier than the contractual delivery dates, continuously polishing the “Huangpu Wenchong” brand with strong履约能力 and stable construction quality.
