US crude oil production hits record 13.93 million bpd in April

US crude oil production reached 13.93 million barrels per day in April, marking the highest level on record, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration on Tuesday. Producers increased output in response to higher oil prices resulting from the Iran war.

Production climbed by 216,000 barrels per day in April, the EIA data showed. New Mexico set a state record with output reaching 2.37 million bpd.

Texas crude production increased by 36,000 bpd to 5.83 million bpd, the highest level since November. Texas and New Mexico together host the Permian Basin, which represents approximately half of total US crude output.

North Dakota, the third largest producing state, also saw output rise to 1.13 million bpd, matching its highest level since November.

US crude futures were trading around $70 per barrel on Tuesday. Prices had reached as high as $117.63 in April.
