On June 30, the “Ningyuan Dianpeng”, the sister ship of the world’s largest 10,000-ton class pure electric high-end intelligent sea vessel “Ningyuan Diankun”, custom-built by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding for Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd., was successfully delivered at the Dushan Port Area of Jiaxing Port, and a naming and maiden voyage ceremony was held.
Chen Xiaofeng, Party Secretary and Chairman of Ningbo Ocean Shipping; Ye Zhihang, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group; Lu Zhenkan, Party Committee Member and Chief Financial Officer of Jiangxi Military Industry Group, among other leaders, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Leaders from Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transportation, Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Marine Economic Development, Jiaxing Municipal Government, Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute, as well as Dai Qiguo, Party Secretary and Chairman of Jiangxin Shipbuilding, also attended.
The successful delivery of “Ningyuan Dianpeng” marks Jiangxin Shipbuilding’s leap from “first breakthrough” to “batch construction” in the field of 10,000-ton class pure electric intelligent vessels. This ship continues the world-leading pure electric propulsion system and intelligent navigation technology, possessing significant advantages such as zero emissions, low noise, and high energy efficiency, making it another masterpiece of the company in promoting the green transformation and upgrading of shipping.
Previously, “Ningyuan Diankun” was delivered for its maiden voyage, saving 67 tons of fuel and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 168 tons in its first month of operation. It is expected to save about 800 tons of fuel and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 2,000 tons annually. After “Ningyuan Dianpeng” enters service, it will further assist the green and intelligent development of China’s coastal and inland waterway shipping.
On the day of delivery, the “Ningyuan Dianpeng”, fully loaded with containers, slowly departed from the Dushan Port Area of Jiaxing Port, heading to the Jintang Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, marking the official opening of the country’s first sea-river intermodal zero-carbon route.
This sea-river intermodal zero-carbon route is led and constructed by Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, with the core being the creation of a full-chain zero-carbon transportation system of “pure electric container trucks + pure electric river vessels + pure electric sea vessels”. Complete sets of automotive parts from Geely Changxing Base are the first “zero-carbon passengers” on this route.
Goods are transported from Geely Changxing Base by pure electric container trucks to Changxing Port Area of Huzhou Port, then transferred to six 64-TEU pure electric river vessels represented by the inland waterway vessel “Zhegang Neihe 060”, traveling via inland waterways such as the Changhuxi Line, Hujiaxi Line, Dongzong Line, and Hangpingshen Line to Jiaxing Port, and finally transferred to the pure electric sea vessel “Ningyuan Dianpeng” to proceed to Ningbo Zhoushan Port, truly achieving zero fuel consumption and zero exhaust emissions throughout the entire journey.
According to estimates, after the route is opened, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 4,800 tons annually and save over 7.4 million yuan in logistics costs. The green transformation not only brings environmental benefits but also delivers a considerable economic account.
