Falck Renewables and BlueFloat Energy have unveiled plans to develop an offshore windfarm off the northeastern coast of Sardinia, the second-largest island in the Mediterranean
The Tibula Energia project will consists of 62 floating wind turbines, approximately 25 km to 40 km from the coast with a total installed capacity of 975 MW and expected annual production of more than 3.4 TWh.
Meetings with the local stakeholders will be carried out over the next few weeks and will focus on discussing the economic and social benefits of the project.
These benefits include job creation; innovation, research and development projects with Sardinia’s universities, research centres and regional technology hubs; the development of a local supply chain; and the development of the Italian island’s main industrial ports for the assembly, operation and maintenance of the windfarm.
Tibula Energy general manager Ksenia Balanda said, “We feel that the value of our projects is based on their ability to benefit local communities. Through dialogue and engagement with local communities, we aim to create a development model that is inclusive and respectful of their needs.”
