On November 7, the Suzhou LNG dual-fuel power /container carrier “Xuanhao Friendship” vessel successfully commenced its maiden voyage. This vessel adopts an “LNG + fuel oil” dual-fuel power system. This configuration enables the ship to reduce sulfur oxide emissions by approximately 99% and nitrogen oxide emissions by over 85% compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels.
The “Xuanhao Friendship” vessel has an overall length of 119.8 meters, a breadth of 19.0 meters, a gross tonnage of 7,150 tons, and a deadweight tonnage of 10,660 tons. It is currently one of the most technologically advanced green container ships in the Suzhou area. Taicang Maritime Safety Administration provided “full-cycle, multi-dimensional” support for the construction of this vessel—addressing the ship’s construction funding needs by facilitating connections with financial departments to secure a loan of 15 million yuan; conducting cross-regional coordination, and at critical stages of ship construction, actively liaising with Lianyungang Maritime Safety Administration and Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration to provide full facilitation for the vessel’s launching, departure from port, and towage to Taicang; coordinating with Suzhou transportation departments to streamline the entire process of “construction class survey — ship registration — issuance of operation certificate,” laying the foundation for the vessel’s rapid entry into operation.
Data shows that from January to October this year, Taicang Maritime Safety Administration has safeguarded the safe sea trials of 18 newly built vessels departing the Yangtze River, including 8 ultra-large new-built container ships with a length of 366 meters and 10 other types of vessels, with a total output value exceeding 11.5 billion yuan.
