Somec S.p.A. has announced that it has acquired, through its Horizons division — specialized in engineered systems for naval architecture and civil facades — a major order worth 38 million euros.

The order involves the supply and installation of glass systems for five newly built cruise ships. The client is a leading French shipbuilding group, and the units are destined for two major international cruise companies. The work includes traditional cabin and suite window frames, as well as automatic vertical sliding systems (Avsw – Automatic Vertical Sliding Windows). This latter technology, entirely designed and patented by Somec, transforms the window frame into an ‘infinite balcony’, expanding the living space and fully opening the view of the sea.

Operational activities will begin in the third quarter of 2026 and will be completed in 2031. The economic effects of the order will be distributed over the entire time frame, guaranteeing the Group stability and significant long-term revenue visibility.

The president of Somec, Oscar Marchetto, emphasized how winning a package of five ships in a single negotiation is a strong sign of confidence. According to Marchetto, the operation also confirms the health of the global cruise sector, which continues to record sustained demand and shipyard order books at historic highs.
