The German-operated capesize bulker Emil is currently drifting with the wind in the Black Sea 21 nautical miles off Odesa, after it was attacked by several Russian drones on Wednesday and abandoned by the crew. The drone attack continued while the crew was in the process of leaving the ship.
The Russian authorities confirm the attack and state that a further three ships in the Black Sea have been attacked.
Emil is registered in Liberia and is owned by the German shipping company Johann M. K. Blumenthal, which is based in Hamburg.
