A new collaboration between ABB and Cydome aims to give operators a broader operational picture by combining voyage optimisation data with cyber risk monitoring. The partnership comes as shipping companies look for clearer visibility across onboard systems, shore teams and vessel operations while balancing safety, resilience and commercial performance.
Shipping companies are facing a tougher task in managing the growing overlap between operational technology, cyber security and vessel performance. Against that backdrop, ABB and maritime cyber specialist Cydome have announced a collaboration designed to help shipowners and managers assess operational risk with greater precision across their fleets.
The partnership combines ABB’s weather routing and voyage optimisation data with Cydome’s AI-driven risk management platform. By feeding operational voyage data into the system alongside local vessel sensor information, the companies say ship managers can gain a more detailed view of risks affecting onboard operations.
The work is aimed at helping operators prioritise risks according to operational impact rather than technical severity alone. That distinction matters for ship managers balancing commercial schedules, safety requirements and vessel reliability across multiple ships and trading patterns.
