US President Donald Trump used harsh expressions towards China in a written statement from his Truth social media account. In his statement, Trump said, “It has been learned that China is taking an extraordinarily aggressive stance on trade and has informed the world by sending an extremely hostile letter that, starting from November 1, 2025, they will implement large-scale export controls on almost every product they produce and even on some products not produced by them. This affects all countries without exception and is clearly a plan designed by them years ago. This is absolutely unheard of in international trade and is a moral disgrace in relations with other countries.” Trump emphasized that China’s move would negatively affect not only the US but also the global economy.

Trump stated that the US would give a strong response to China’s extraordinarily aggressive policies, saying, “Due to China’s unprecedented stance, speaking not on behalf of other similarly threatened countries, but solely on behalf of the United States, starting from November 1, 2025 (or from an earlier date depending on other measures or changes China may take), the United States will impose a 100 percent tariff on top of the customs duties it currently pays to China.”

“We will implement export controls on critical software”

In his statement, Trump also stated that the US would introduce new control mechanisms to reduce dependence on strategic technologies, adding, “Also on November 1, we will implement Export Control on all critical software. It was impossible to believe China would take such a step, but they did, and the rest is history.”
