Two programs driven by artificial intelligence will enable ship operators and owners to navigate environmental regulations in Europe
Ulstein Digital has introduced two programs to automate monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of emissions information on ships sailing in European waters and into ports on the continent.
Its software will simplify MRV compliance, as verified by DNV, for ships sailing in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA),UKand Norwegian waters, reducing risk of non-compliance and lowering administration burdens on crew.
Both AI-powered programs will collate, analyseandvalidatedata from vessels and automatically generate reports ready for submission to authorities.
This comes as the EU and UK are phasing in emissions trading for shipping to reach up to 100% of verified emissions, and introducing mandated reporting in 2027.
Ulstein Digital said its MRV solution covers the EU,EEAand UK waters simultaneously.
“It applies complex regulatory rules in real time and delivers verifier-ready reports to DNV’s Veracity platform with a single click, complete with a full audit trail,” said Ulstein Digital.
Ship operators and owners can integrate this software with existing onboard systems regardless of supplier.
Ulstein Digital also developed a program for compliance with Norway’s NOx regulations for vessels with propulsion power above 750 kW.
Norway’s NOx Fund obligations have reliedalmost entirelyon manual data entry by ships’ crew, including logging fuel consumption and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) performance data.
Ulstein Digital said its NOx solution automates the entire quarterly reporting workflow, validatingand compiling submission-ready reports for delivery to the NOx Fund or flag authorities.
Every NOx record becomes fully verified, traceable and auditable.
This software also provides fleet managers with information on NOx costs, fueluseand cost per vessel, said Ulstein Digital.
