Not only the International Shipping Register, in the tax decree there is a specific measure that also concerns the port of Piombino.
This was announced in a note by the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority, explaining that “the Senate Finance Committee has approved the amendment to the Tax Decree which allocates 92 million euros for the north quay of the port of Piombino. A major political result.”
Received with great satisfaction by Davide Gariglio, President of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority: “We express our deep gratitude to the Government, and in particular to the Minister of Industry, for having allocated the necessary resources for the realization of a strategic work for the development of the territory,” he declared. “Sincere thanks also go to the parliamentary forces that presented and supported this measure.”
The north quay of the port of Piombino is currently occupied by the plants and the hull of the Snam LNG regasification vessel Italis Lng, by the yards and activities of the Piombino Industrie Marittime shipyard, and by Sales, a company that occupies part of the dock in the Briccole area for the storage and loading of large-sized stone.
The title is temporary in nature since the Briccole area falls within the perimeter intended for the future developments of the new West quay provided for by the Port Master Plan, and for this reason the AdSP has set a maximum duration of the concession of four years. The authority has included a safeguard clause that allows the revocation of the title, with a notice period not exceeding four months, should the progress of infrastructure works make possession of the area necessary.
