Dredging work on the seabed of quay 22 in the port of Ancona began today, carried out by the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority.
The body announced: “The objective of the intervention, co-financed by the Pnrr Logistics development for the agri-food, fishing and aquaculture, forestry, floriculture and nursery sectors Next generation Eu, is to improve port operability.”
The activity will involve approximately 6,000 cubic meters of sediment in the water basin in front of quay 22. The work, carried out by the company La Dragaggi srl of Marghera (Ve), will affect an area of approximately 14,500 square meters. The dredging activity, which will last approximately 10 days without affecting the maritime traffic of the port, will aim to reach the bathymetric level of 10.75 meters above mean sea level.
“The intervention at quay 22 will improve the operability of one of the most important commercial infrastructures of the port, increasing its reception capacity,” said Vincenzo Garofalo, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority. “Pending the restoration of ministerial funds for the implementation of the overall dredging project, which will affect quays 19 to 26, we are launching a first intervention by exploiting the opportunities offered by the Pnrr.”
