The Port Authority of Algeciras has concluded in recent weeks the work on the new dock intended for the Guardia Civil in the Saladillo basin, which will be named the Marqués de Rodil Dock, in homage to José Ramón Rodil y Gayoso, a prestigious, prestigious 19th century military figure. The facilities will be inaugurated tomorrow. The dock, whose work began in 2024, has had a cost of just over 3 million euros.
The Port Authority will be able to put the facilities occupied by the maritime service of the Guardia Civil to commercial use, as well as the open areas where confiscated vessels are stored. And on the other hand, it allows the maritime service to relocate its fleet to the new berthing line, where it has more space and draft for the new vessels of the force and better fulfillment of its functions.
Floating Pontoons and Ecological Dredging
This project is part of a significant investment package by the Port Authority of Algeciras that is now entering its final stage in the southern area of the port of Algeciras. Thus, in parallel to the Guardia Civil Dock, the Port Authority is renewing the pontoons located on the right bank of the sports basin, to which we must add the works already executed such as the Armamento Dock, the reorganization of the southern access and the Green Corridor.
