The Cosulich, Arcese and Conti families join forces to create a new major national player active in the world of Finished Vehicle Logistics (Fvl), i.e. logistics services for new finished vehicles in /export from Italy. The objective is to offer the market “a national logistics model built on complementary platforms, intermodal connections and a strong specialisation in the Fvl segment. A system designed to accompany the transformation of international automotive flows and offer global manufacturers a concrete, integrated and scalable response in Italy”.
A press release indeed announces an operational reorganisation that has led to the founding of Gta, “an instrument through which to consolidate the investments started by Xca on Il Faldo and the port of Livorno, a historic port for the Arcese and Conti families, and prepares to incorporate Vlv”. Xca is a joint venture between Arcese and Costa operating on the market with a fleet of approximately 50 owned car transporters.
Vlv (Vehicle Logistic Vado) is the company founded in 2024 to build and manage, in partnership precisely with the Fratelli Cosulich group, a large inland port area in Vado Ligure; the company will now be incorporated into Gta.
Whose birth now “fits into a consolidation path already started in 2025, when Xca strengthened its presence in the finished vehicle segment through Il Faldo, the historic compound in Collesalvetti and one of the most extensive automotive logistics facilities in Europe”. The platform is equipped with large surfaces, internal rail connections and services dedicated to the custody, preparation, handling and distribution of vehicles.
Now also the logistics platform of Vado Ligure, “already strategic for finished vehicle logistics, fully enters a larger system, capable of connecting ports, compounds, rail services, national distribution and high value-added operational solutions”. The communication specifies that Vado Ligure, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Gioia Tauro and Ravenna currently represent the main entry platforms that Gta and its shareholders intend to offer to car manufacturers, with particular attention to Chinese and Asian brands that are redesigning their automotive flows towards Europe. “The strengthening of the network also passes through the increasingly consolidated collaboration with Automar, one of the main Italian operators in Fvl logistics” the protagonists of the agreement further specify (Automar is a joint venture 40% owned by Gruppo Grimaldi, 40% by Bertani Trasporti (40%) and 20% by Gruppo Mercurio).
The agreement that today gave rise to Gta, “already in 2025 had allowed the client Mg (Saic Group) to identify an efficient logistics solution through the Automar Terminal in Civitavecchia. Today this collaboration evolves with the creation of the new rail service between Gioia Tauro, another Automar platform, and Il Faldo” reads the announcement.
