The Port Authority of Almería has tendered the supply, installation and maintenance of border control equipment at the port of Almería, within the framework of the European /Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias) and following the agreement of the State Secretariat for Security (SES) and Puertos del Estado. The EES is an automated IT system that records the entry and exit data and entry refusal of third-country nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders of the member states.
For its part, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias) is intended for third-country nationals exempt from the visa requirement to cross borders. To make the contract effective, the border crossing point at the port of Almería must have the necessary equipment to automate these controls; for this, the acquisition of containers, tablets, as well as the necessary infrastructure for their installation is essential.
