Recently, Shandong Xinneng Shipbuilding has successively secured new energy vessel orders, signing a contract with Shandong Jinghang Logistics Co., Ltd. for the construction of two 3,000-ton methanol-electric hybrid vessels, and signing a letter of intent with a domestic logistics enterprise for the construction of 3+N 73-meter LNG new energy vessels, further consolidating its competitive advantage in the inland river new energy vessel market.
The two 3,000-ton methanol-electric hybrid vessels signed this time are built based on Xinneng Shipbuilding’s 73-meter standardized main ship type platform certified by the China Classification Society (CCS), with an overall length of 73 meters, a molded breadth of 13.76 meters, a molded depth of 5.1 meters, and a rated deadweight of 3,000 tons, suitable for inland river navigation zones A and B. Targeting the long-distance, high-load operation demands of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and Yangtze River mainline, a customized methanol-electric range-extended hybrid system has been developed, equipped with a 20-cubic-meter methanol fuel tank and two sets of 300kWh battery packs, achieving an ultra-long range of over 1,200 kilometers, effectively solving the long-distance range pain point of pure electric vessels.
At the same time, this power solution leverages the advantages of convenient methanol fuel storage and transportation, strong refueling adaptability, and low-carbon environmental protection, perfectly adapting to the routine operation needs of mainline waterways. Compared to traditional diesel vessels, pollutant emissions are significantly reduced, and combined with the carbon reduction effect of green methanol fuel, it offers both economic and ecological benefits.
In the cooperation intention for the 3+N 73-meter LNG new energy vessels, the customer confirmed the cooperation upon their first factory visit, fully reflecting their high recognition of Xinneng Shipbuilding’s technical strength and delivery capability. The vessel type for this cooperation also adopts Xinneng Shipbuilding’s existing 73-meter LNG standardized ship type platform, marking another important breakthrough in the market promotion of Xinneng Shipbuilding’s 73-meter LNG standardized ship type.
The two collaborations are both based on the same 73-meter standardized ship type platform, adopting two models: customized development of methanol-electric hybrid power and direct selection of mature LNG standard ship types, fully demonstrating Xinneng Shipbuilding’s capability for both rapid delivery of standardized products and diversified power customization development. Currently, Xinneng Shipbuilding has formed the capability for independent R&D, design, and construction of a full spectrum of new energy vessels covering LNG, pure electric, and methanol-electric hybrid, enabling rapid response to differentiated operational needs based on the characteristics of different navigation zones.
In the next step, Xinneng Shipbuilding will accelerate the design implementation and mass production delivery of various new energy vessel types, continue to deeply cultivate the R&D and intelligent manufacturing of green vessels, and support the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the inland river shipping industry with excellent products and efficient services.
It is understood that Shandong Xinneng Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established in 2022. It is a new energy vessel manufacturing enterprise jointly created by Jining Energy Group with CATL, CIMC, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Wuhan University of Technology, and other units, integrating R&D, design, manufacturing, repair, and dismantling, focusing on the R&D, manufacturing, and maintenance of inland river new energy vessels such as LNG, electric power, hydrogen energy, and methanol.
Xinneng Shipbuilding actively responds to the national green intelligent selection development strategy, adhering to the development philosophy of “green intelligent shipbuilding, building green intelligent ships,” benchmarking against sea-going vessel production processes, adopting an autonomous and controllable intelligent manufacturing technology system, striving to create 4E series ship products with “energy saving, environmental protection, economy, and efficiency” as the core, and launching inland river standardized ship types suitable for diverse application scenarios. The relevant ship types have all passed the certification of the China Classification Society (CCS), achieving batch production, and the products are selling well both domestically and internationally.
As of now, Xinneng Shipbuilding has received a total of over 200 orders, with over 180 vessels having started construction. At the same time, the second phase project of Xinneng Shipbuilding is accelerating. After completion, it will form an annual capacity of building 200 transport vessels, 40 yachts, and repairing 50 vessels, which can drive the accelerated agglomeration of supporting industries such as power systems, processing and manufacturing, marine specialized equipment manufacturing, painting, and anti-corrosion in the hinterland, striving to build a hundred-billion-yuan new energy vessel industrial park in Jining.
