APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas received a new fully electric Super-Post-Panamax crane. This state-of-the-art equipment will be part of the terminal’s Phase II expansion.
“At APM Terminals Mexico we work every day to promote the growth of the country and the region, strengthening its logistics infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology, strategic investment, and local talent development. The arrival of this new STS crane represents a concrete step towards a more efficient and low-emission operation, aligned with our commitment to decarbonization and innovation. We believe that the future of logistics is built with more sustainable equipment and with locally trained people to lead the change,” said Beatriz Yera, general director of APM Terminals Mexico.
The new Super-Post-Panamax crane has a maximum capacity of 100 tons and is equipped with technology that guarantees performance equivalent to current cranes, but with greater benefits in energy efficiency and sustainability.
Its incorporation, the company elaborated, will reduce vessel dwell times at the dock, provide greater flexibility in berthing vessels of different sizes, which translates into a more reliable and competitive operation for the customers and shipping lines that operate in the port.
The Super-Post-Panamax crane will be integrated into the new ARMG crane equipment planned within the Phase II expansion, which will increase the terminal’s capacity to 2.2 million TEUs annually and will begin operations in 2026.
