In a ceremony held this Thursday at Concais, the Santos Port Authority (APS) inaugurated the Port Guard (Gport) room in the passenger terminal, which will be used to control access to the Santos Port pier during the 2025 cruise season.
The room was even used in the last season. This year, it was expanded and re-equipped, including a state-of-the-art access control system, so that Gport can operate more effectively. “This room will provide more comfort for the guards to provide the best service to passengers, ship crews, and other professionals who have access to the pier and vessels,” stated the Superintendent of Gport, Wagner Pinheiro.
The lessee Concais is responsible for controlling passenger access to the pier and cruise ships. Gport is responsible for inspecting the access of all others, including crew members and service providers.
“This is another very important piece of equipment delivered to the Port Guard. We will certainly have a great cruise season this year,” emphasized the APS Operations Director, Beto Mendes.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were the Concais Operations Manager, Javier Carnevale, Federal Revenue auditors, and port guards.
“The work of the Port Guard is exemplary. We often say that if the port area were a neighborhood, it would be the largest in Santos and have the lowest crime rates. Crime does not thrive here,” stated Police Chief Martha Vergine, head of the 5th Police Precinct for Tourist Assistance (Deatur) of the Civil Police.
