The president of the Santos Port Authority (APS), Anderson Pomini, presented on Monday morning (October 6) at the Port of ItajaĆ (SC) headquarters a report on the first three quarters of APS’s management, which began on January 1, 2025, following the end of the port’s concession to the municipality.

According to Pomini, the Port of ItajaĆ is entering a new cycle of growth and competitiveness. ā€œThe port has regained its ability to attract cargo, and by July 2025 had already handled 2.3 million tonnes, with projections to surpass the volumes of the past three years in both tonnes and containers,ā€ he said.

APS’s administration of the Santa Catarina port has been marked by the resumption of dredging operations, with the certification of operational draughts following the restoration of depths in the internal and external channels and the turning basin.

Infrastructure investments in ItajaĆ continue under a plan exceeding R$844 million. One major highlight is the long-awaited removal of the wreck of the Pallas ship — a project estimated at R$68 million and awaited for 100 years. APS expects to begin assessment dives next month and complete the hull removal by the first half of 2026. Discussions are underway with the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) for the archaeological recovery of the vessel.

Pomini also outlined other ongoing projects:

Another highlight is the port’s financial performance — in the first half of the year, revenue already surpassed all of last year’s results. ISS tax collections alone generated R$2.4 million for the municipality.

Beyond operational and administrative performance, APS also emphasized investments in training, including vocational courses for 50 young people and adults through the Cenep Foundation, as well as cultural and sports sponsorships totaling approximately R$280,000 in 2025.
