Marine engineering consultancy LOC, part of AqualisBraemar LOC, has been chosen by the Egyptian Group for Multi-Purpose Terminals (EGMPT) and the Egyptian Ministry of Transport to work on the Port of Alexandria navigation channel expansion.
In a statement, the company said it will provide consulting and engineering services and deliver simulation modelling of Egypt Pier 55-62 at the Port as part of an expansion of the navigation channel.
The expansion will be conducted to accommodate large container vessels calling to the Port and a new container terminal.
LOC’s services will include a real-time desktop navigation study, full mission simulation study, metocean and hydrodynamic studies among much else.

For the Alexandria port expansion project, LOC in Egypt will also lend on the support and specialised engineering, design and analysis capabilities of the wider AqualisBraemar LOC group, including support fromLongitude Engineering.

In January 2021, it was announced that CMA CGM will operate and manage Pier 55, the upcoming multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Alexandria.
