AS Tallink Grupp reported an overall decrease in passenger and cargo traffic during September 2025, despite the company closing the third quarter of the year with growth in the total volume of passengers carried.

In the ninth month of the year, the company carried 387,482 passengers, representing a drop of 4.1% compared to the same month the previous year. This contraction was accompanied by a decrease in the volume of cargo and vehicles. The former fell by 8.2% (21,269 units) and that of passenger vehicles by 5.9% (55,973).

Despite the September setback, the results for the third quarter (July-September) reflect a positive trend driven by the summer season. AS Tallink Grupp carried a total of 1,766,335 people, an increase of 3.0% compared to the third quarter of 2024.

However, the cargo segment showed quarterly weakness, with a 9.8% reduction in cargo units (60,306). In contrast, the number of passenger vehicles recorded a slight increase of 0.4%, reaching 251,751 units.

The Estonia-Finland route was the main growth driver, recording a 10.1% increase in passengers during the third quarter, with 1,166,278 people carried. This route was operated by the shuttle vessels MyStar and Megastar, and the cruise ferry Victoria I. However, this service experienced a drop in September due, in part, to scheduled two-day maintenance work on the Megastar.

Meanwhile, Estonia-Sweden was the most affected line. The number of guests plummeted 23.5% in the quarter (164,287 passengers). The company attributed this sharp decline to changes in its fleet composition, noting that in the same period the previous year, this route was operated by two cruise ferries (Baltic Queen and Victoria I), whereas this year the Tallinn-Stockholm route was only covered by the former, in addition to cargo operations on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route with the Superfast IX.

Finally, the Finland-Sweden service had the greatest stability, with a modest decrease of 1.4% in the quarter. The route continues to be served by the cruise ferries Silja Serenade and Silja Symphony (Helsinki-Stockholm) and the Baltic Princess (Turku-Stockholm).

Meanwhile, the shipping company confirmed the extension of the charter contract for the vessel Galaxy I. The agreement was extended for another six months, until October 2026, and includes an additional extension option for 12 months after the completion of this new term.
