On July 3, 2025, Ascenz Marorka, a smart shipping company under the French GTT Group, announced a collaboration with Antarctic expedition company Antarctica21 to equip the new cruise ship “Magellan Discoverer,” set for delivery in 2026, with smart shipping solutions.
This partnership builds on their previous success with the “Magellan Explorer.” In 2022, the vessel was outfitted with a full suite of advanced measurement instruments and an integrated data acquisition system. Since the 2023 Antarctic season, operational data has been transmitted in real time to Ascenz Marorka’s online platform.
In addition to the advanced digital platform, Ascenz Marorka provided Antarctica21 with performance management services, enabling in-depth analysis of the ship’s critical systems and operational conditions.
Leveraging the synergy of real-time data insights and expert analysis, this solution significantly enhanced operational efficiency and decision-making. As a result, Antarctica21 opted for the same onboard systems, digital platform access, and expert service package for the “Magellan Discoverer” to further optimize vessel performance and sustainability.
Anouar Kiassi, Vice President of Digital Business at GTT Group and CEO of Ascenz Marorka, stated: “Antarctica21’s renewed trust is a strong validation of the value we bring to the cruise market and reaffirms our commitment to delivering high-quality digital solutions and services. We take pride in being long-term partners, helping our clients achieve operational excellence and environmental goals.”
Verónica Peragallo, CEO of Antarctica21, added: “Our ships are not just vessels—they are bridges connecting travelers to some of the planet’s most breathtaking landscapes. The ‘Magellan Discoverer’ will once again raise industry standards. We’ve seen firsthand how Ascenz Marorka’s technology transformed the ‘Magellan Explorer’—smarter operations, sharper insights, and a significantly reduced environmental footprint. This is the level of excellence we expect and uphold. As we prepare to launch our new ship, we are proud to continue this partnership and maintain our leadership in responsible Antarctic exploration.”
