In Rome, the public assembly of the Italian ports association, which appointed a “restricted commission” to nominate the next president starting next year
The public assembly of Assoporti took place last Wednesday in Rome. A format of a participatory public assembly with thematic tables composed of all the presidents of the port system authorities who had the opportunity to introduce themselves officially, moderated by the journalist and co-host of Linea Blu-Porti d’Italia, Donatella Bianchi.
In the post-conference afternoon, all the presidents gathered in an internal assembly of the members for the determinations concerning the appointment of the next President of Assoporti. After a discussion on the importance of Assoporti’s role and, consequently, of its president, who will have to face the next challenges of Italian portuality ensuring unity of intent among the members, the assembly decided to appoint a restricted commission.

At the opening of the event, the institutional addresses by the Commander General of the Port Authorities, Sergio Liardo, and by the President of the IX Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Salvatore Deidda. From the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, a letter of good work that emphasized the touristic aspects of port activities.
After the report by the President of Assoporti, Rodolfo Giampieri (available here), whose term officially expires next December 31st, the address and interview with the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, who wanted to thank Giampieri for the work done in these years. Rixi then delved into the core issues concerning the future of the Italian port system.
“For me it has been a wonderful experience to be President of Assoporti – said Giampieri at the end of the Public Assembly – I thank everyone for the trust and I am certain that in the near future the new team of Presidents can strengthen the work carried out so far in a cohesive manner.”
The restricted commission for the appointment of the next president of Assoporti is composed of: Eliseo Cuccaro, Davide Gariglio, Francesco Mastro and Francesco Rizzo, to conduct an internal consultation among the Presidents, in order to identify the suitable person to assume the role of President of Assoporti for the coming years, also to ensure continuity in the ongoing dialogue with institutions and all sector stakeholders.
To this end, it was decided to convene the Elective Assembly for next January 19, during which the appointment of the new President of Assoporti will take place.
