The Chinese port crane manufacturer Zpmc announced that it has completed the assembly of two customized semicircular beam dock cranes for the Psa Sech terminal in Italy. “As the world’s largest semicircular beam dock crane, this project represents a revolutionary innovation from the Zpmc research and development team,” explains the manufacturer. “By redesigning the traditional rectangular boom into a semicircular structure – writes Zpmc again – the team has developed the world’s first dock crane with this revolutionary design. Years of dedicated technical research have led to impressive results: the wind load on the beam has been reduced by 30%, while the boom weight has decreased by 15%. These improvements not only increase operational efficiency but also significantly improve energy savings and environmental performance.”
The first cranes of this new generation series will be in operation in the ports of Hong Kong, Kenya, and Italy, “demonstrating Zpmc’s commitment to promoting port machinery innovation with larger, lighter, and smarter equipment.”
