At what rate are agro-industrial exports growing

The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries reported that in the first 8 months of the year, agribusiness exports totaled 76.15 million tons, a 9% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2024.

Likewise, measured in value, they amounted to US$ 33,056 million, 4% above last year, according to data from the Undersecretariat of Agrifood Markets and International Integration.

81% of agribusiness exports are concentrated in the 10 most important complexes (in descending order of foreign currency generation): soybeans, corn, wheat, bovine, sunflower, barley, peanuts, heavy vegetables, forest-industry and sorghum.

Among these highlighted complexes, wheat was the one that obtained the highest level of volume increase with 40% compared to the previous year, followed by peanuts with 34%, sunflower and sorghum with 26%, forest-industry with 24%, soybeans with 8% and barley with 3%.

The highest growth

Among the products that saw the highest growth during the period analyzed, the case of essential orange oil with a 364% increase in volume can be highlighted; jojoba oil, with 344%; peach preparations with 293%; dried shelled beans of the vigna, mungo or radiata species, with 245%; animal feed with 113%; vermouth, 109%; alcoholic beverages, 105% or baked goods with 103%, to name a few examples.

The main sales destinations were, in order of importance: Vietnam, China, Brazil, Arabia, Peru, Chile, Malaysia, India, Algeria and Indonesia, with the top 10 representing just over 50% of the total exported.

Among the economic blocs to which Argentina exports, the increase in sales to the African countries that make up the SACU (Southern African Customs Union) stands out with a growth of 477% in volume, followed by the Middle East with 50%, the European Union with 28%, Mercosur, with 9%, among the most relevant.
