Fifteen boats loaded onto a single ship in Brisbane: a niche sector growing with the luxury boating boom
Brisbane – The transport of luxury yachts has reached a new milestone. Aurora Yacht Logistics, in collaboration with Cma Cgm, has loaded 15 motor yachts onto a single ship, the Cma Cgm Abu Dhabi, at the Dp World Brisbane terminal. The boats, ranging from 43 to 72 feet, are destined for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS).
The operation represents a global record for Cma Cgm, which is expanding its expertise in project and breakbulk cargo alongside its containerized core business. Aurora, based on Australia’s Gold Coast, specializes in the global transport of cruise and racing yachts, and has collaborated with Cma Cgm for years on complex shipments.
The yacht transport market is experiencing strong growth, fueled by the increase in ultra-high net worth individuals and the growing demand to move luxury assets between exclusive destinations like the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. The sector, while a niche of project cargo, is evolving with advanced technologies and end-to-end services that include maritime transport and customs practices.
The challenges remain many: complex logistics, vulnerability to global supply chain disruptions, and increasingly stringent environmental rules. However, the trend of nautical tourism and the growth in yacht sales support the expansion of the sector, now an integral part of the luxury maritime economy.
«The Pad service transports a wide range of cargo from Oceania to the Americas and Europe, including special and complex shipments like this one», said Shane Walden, Managing Director Oceania Cluster of Anl & Cma Cgm Group Agencies.
