The strategic cooperation agreement signed between AVS Global and Moravia Turkey, one of the established brands in the industrial paint sector, was introduced to the public at a special event held at the Ekol Maritime Training Center. Through this cooperation, AVS Global aims to build a sustainable and innovative business model by delivering Moravia’s 100% domestically produced paint products to a wider customer and supplier network in Turkey and international markets.
This strategic partnership between the two companies holds great value not only commercially, but also in terms of sectoral knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and the representation of domestic industrial strength on international platforms. AVS Global’s extensive distribution network and experience in the sector, combined with Moravia’s established production history and quality products, will create significant synergy in both local and global markets.
Moravia, whose foundations were laid in 1863 in Trieste, Italy, is recognized as one of the world’s first antifouling (toxic) paint manufacturers. Its fame grew when it began to be used by the US Navy in the 1930s. Moravia started production in Turkey in 1963 and has been operating with fully Turkish capital at its facilities in Istanbul since 1974. Today, with a wide product range including epoxy, polyurethane, synthetic, and acrylic systems, Moravia is positioned as one of Turkey’s most established domestic industrial and marine paint manufacturers.
“We aim to reach wider markets through this cooperation”
At the event, which attracted keen interest from students, a comprehensive presentation was delivered by Moravia Turkey Manager Dr. Sinan Okumuş, Overseas Sales Manager Ali Akçalı, and Domestic Sales Manager Yılmaz Özkaya. The presentation shared information about Moravia’s production process, product diversity, the importance of domestic production, and its application areas in the maritime sector.
At the end of the program, gifts were presented to the students by Moravia, and a group commemorative photo was taken. This interaction also provided a meaningful opportunity for young maritime candidates to establish direct contact with sector companies. Commenting on the cooperation, Moravia Turkey Manager Dr. Sinan Okumuş said, “Through this cooperation, we aim to combine our domestic production strength with AVS Global’s international network to reach wider markets. We have taken an important step both to create sectoral awareness and to deliver our qualified products to more users.”
In his assessment, AVS Global Chairman of the Board Abdülvahit Şimşek stated, “As a company that prioritizes domestic and national production, we are proud to work with an established and reliable manufacturer like Moravia. We are very pleased to offer our customers the products of this strong Turkish brand. We will continue to provide sustainable and quality solutions to both our suppliers and our solution partners.”
Union participation and plaque ceremony
International Maritime Workers’ Union (IMU) General President Ramazan Duman, Deputy General President Nizam Demir, and General Secretary Atty. Ayşen Baykan also attended the event. In her address to the students, Baykan delivered important messages on union solidarity, professional awareness, and the future of the sector. At the end of the event, IMU presented a plaque of appreciation to AVS Global Chairman of the Board Abdülvahit Şimşek and Ekol Maritime General Manager Mutlu Arslan. The plaque was accepted on behalf of AVS Global by Mutlu Arslan.
This meaningful meeting also served as a bridge between the sector and educational institutions, marking a strong start for the cooperation signed between AVS Global and Moravia that will contribute to the sector.
