The port of Barcelona has participated in the World Ports Conference 2025, organized by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) which this year celebrates its 70th birthday. The event took place in Kobe, the emblematic city where the association began its activity. The president of the port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell, led the expedition, accompanied by Ingrid Boqué, director of institutional relations and Santiago Garcia-Milà, deputy general manager of innovation and business strategy, whose work at the head of the association during his presidency was recognized and who received thanks for his strategic contribution to the global development of the port sector.
The representatives of the port of Barcelona took advantage of their presence in Japan to hold meetings with ports such as Busan (South Korea) and Bergen (Norway) as well as with entities such as the international cruise line association (Clia). On the other hand, the Positive Impact project has been selected as a finalist in the Community Building category of the IAPH Sustainability Award, competing with initiatives from other ports around the world. This international recognition highlights the best practices in sustainability within the global port sector.
