The president of the Santos Port Authority (APS), Anderson Pomini, proposed and approved the creation of a technical commission to seek consensus on the best route options for the access roads to the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, on the left bank of the Port of Santos, in Vicente de Carvalho. The initiative was approved at the first meeting to discuss the access roads, held at the APS headquarters in São Paulo.

The commission, primarily technical in nature, will bring together representatives from the Guarujá City Hall, the company Mota-Engil (the construction company responsible for the tunnel), the terminals on both sides of the river, the Port Authority, the Air Force, APS itself, and other sectors related to the matter.

The search for the most efficient routes for Guarujá and the port with the least impact on the population will evaluate all options, considering numerous aspects, such as the works for the second phase of the Avenida Perimetral da Margem Esquerda, the start of commercial flight operations at the Guarujá Metropolitan Airport, among others.

The meeting was scheduled by APS in response to a request from the Guarujá City Hall, which sent two representatives: the Secretary of Planning, Daniela Mariane, and the advisor to Mayor Farid Madi, Mauro Scazufca. Also participating from APS were the Director of Infrastructure, Orlando Razões, superintendents, managers, advisors, and technicians.

Pomini made it clear that the technical committee will evaluate all options and reaffirmed the commitment to turn the Santos-Guarujá tunnel into a project that drives economic growth and job creation in Guarujá and Santos. “That is why it is so important to find the best access roads at this historic moment for the future of the region and the country,” concluded the head of APS.
