The Port Authority of Santos (APS) reported that it continues to develop preparatory activities for the deepening of the navigation channel in the Port of Santos. For this reason, the entity indicated that there will be a partial interruption of maritime traffic during the day of Friday, November 14.
Between 1:00 PM and 11:00 PM, the APS will not schedule ship maneuvers in the channel in front of Warehouse 15. This stoppage is necessary to carry out a rotary geotechnical study, which aims to define the methodology for rock removal within the framework of the channel deepening project, currently at 15 meters.
After the rock removal, a safe passage will be opened to reach 16 meters and, subsequently, 17 meters, a depth that will definitively guarantee that the Port of Santos can receive larger ships.
This is the fifth stage of the rotary geotechnical drilling campaign carried out within the framework of the port channel dredging contract. With the data collected in this study, the awarded company (DTA Engenharia) will develop the basic and execution projects. APS anticipates that the drilling campaign will conclude next week.
