The director-president of PortosRio, Flavio Vieira, announced the execution of the emergency dredging of the access channel to the Port of Itaguaí for 2025, an action that aims to reestablish navigability conditions and eliminate the restrictions imposed on the operation of large vessels.
“Points of sedimentation that compromised the safety of navigation were identified, forcing vessels to operate only at high tide. Given this, we decided to act immediately and carry out the dredging of the critical points. This action will restore full navigability and guarantee that operations are carried out throughout the day,” explained the head of the entity.
Flavio Vieira emphasized that the emergency dredging is an immediate measure within the company’s investment plan for the Port of Itaguaí, which includes the execution of the complete dredging of the channel.
One of the goals of the current management is to consolidate investments in infrastructure and technology in the port, considered one of the main growth vectors of the company and one of the most promising in the country.
