The Singapore group emerges as the buyer of two 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers ordered from HD Hyundai Samho, for delivery in 2028
Singapore – Bw Lng is believed to be the client behind the new order announced by Hd Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, which last week communicated the signing of a contract worth 741.2 billion won (approximately 507 million dollars) for two large LNG carriers.
Information released by Clarksons indicates that the group has booked two 174,000 cubic meter units, with delivery expected in the second half of 2028. The shipyard’s parent company, HD Korea Shipbuilding& Offshore Engineering, had initially described the buyer only as a North American client, but the market now considers Bw Lng’s name as certain.
The order further strengthens a fleet that already counts over 30 LNG carriers and FSRUs, including two new vessels arriving from Hanwha Ocean following a 2022 contract.
The Samho deal adds to another major order recorded in recent days in the LNG sector: Nigeria Lng, via Bonny Gas Transport, has signed with Hudong-ZhonghuaShipbuilding for the construction of three LNG carriers of the same capacity, with options for three additional units and deliveries starting from 2029.
