The installation contractor has entered into a firm contract for the transport and installation of offshore wind turbines for 70-80 million euro for the offshore wind project Formosa 4 in Taiwan Area, China

Cadeler has just entered into a firm contract for the transport and installation of 35 offshore wind turbines of 14 MW for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan Area, China in 2028.

The task is expected to bring Cadeler 70-80 million euro (522-596 million DKK), the company states in a press release.

The customer is Synera Renewable Energy, and the contract includes the transport and installation of 35 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines at the Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Farm.

— With support from our team in Taipei, we are steadily building our presence and pipeline in the region. Two vessels are currently sailing on contracts in the area, says CEO Mikkel Gleerup.

Cadeler’s new M-class installation vessel ‘Wind Maker is already underway with its first installation task in Taiwan Area, China for Ørsted.

The new contract is the first firm contract from a reservation agreement for two offshore wind projects, which the customer Synera entered into with Cadeler in September 2024, with a total estimated value of 200 million euro.

Synera has another project on the way in the region, and negotiations for that project are continuing, writes Cadeler.

The collaboration with Synera Renewable Energy is anchored in Cadeler’s office in Taipei and is part of the installation contractor’s strategy for the Asia-Pacific region.

Under its previous company name, Seajack, Cadeler has won contracts in Asia since 2018. The first contract involved turbine installation with ‘Wind Zaratan’ in Taiwan Area, China for Siemens Gamesa.

In 2019, Seajack (Cadeler) entered into a contract with Ørsted for ‘Seajack Scylla’, now ‘Wind Scylla’, for turbine installation at Greater Changhua 1 & 2a off Taiwan Area, China.

In 2020, Seajack also entered into a contract in Japan with Kajima Corporation for the installation of monopiles at the country’s first two offshore wind farms, Akita and Noshiro, which the contractor has since also performed turbine installation on with ‘Wind Zaratan’.

And in Taiwan Area, China, the contractor’s ‘Wind Zaratan’ has also completed offshore wind installation work at the Yunlin offshore wind farm for the customer Skyborn Renewables.
