Carnival cancels two cruises, one from Tampa, one from JAXPORT

The Sept. 29 Carnival Paradise cruise is canceled, and the current sailing may be delayed returning to Tampa
With Port Tampa Bay and the Port of Jacksonville closing ahead of Hurricane Ian, Carnival Cruise Line canceled Thursday cruises from each port.

The Sept. 29 cruises of Carnival Paradise from Tampa and Carnival Elation from JAXPORT are impacted. Both are four-day sailings. Each is currently the only cruise ship operating from the respective ports.

Passengers will receive a full refund and a 25% future cruise credit.

Current cruises will likely be extended

As earlier reported, it’s likely the current five-day cruises on both ships will be extended.

In Cozumel today, Carnival Paradise is extending its stay there overnight and will depart Wednesday. The ship will begin heading back to Tampa but remaining a safe distance from the storm as Carnival determines when Paradise can land after the US Coast Guard assesses conditions.

Tampa under hurricane warning

The port is closed to maritime trafficand Tampa Bay remains in the hurricane warning zone, with Ian’s landfall expected Wednesday afternoon.

JAXPORT to close noon Wednesday

Jacksonville is under a tropical storm warning, and JAXPORT will close at noon Wednesday. After Carnival Elation visits Freeport on Wednesday, it’s likely the ship’s return to Jacksonvillewill be delayed.
