The Canada Border Services Agency has seized 204.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed aboard a ship arriving from Panama, hidden inside containers of red liquid resembling paint pigment. The drugs, packaged into 78 bricks and detected with the help of sniffer dogs, were turned over to the RCMP as part of an ongoing investigation. Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said the seizure highlights the lengths organized crime will go to move illicit drugs into Canada. The discovery occurred the same day CBSA intercepted 560 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine at Vancouver International Airport, one of the region’s largest export-bound drug seizures. Together, the two seizures represent millions of dollars prevented from reaching criminal networks.
