At 8:58 AM on July 9th, the third vessel (CHB5009) in the series of 50,000-ton MR-type product/chemical tankers built by Changhong International for Greek shipowner HORIZON TANKER was successfully launched amid fireworks and celebrations.
This vessel is the eighth MR-type ship in the series constructed by Changhong International, with an overall length of approximately 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a depth of 19.1 meters. It is classified by Lloyd’s Register.
MR-type vessels hold the highest proportion in the tanker fleet, and their supply-demand dynamics are crucial to the overall operation of the tanker market, offering broad market prospects. The series features an overall length of about 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a depth of 19.1 meters, also classified by Lloyd’s Register. The ships are equipped with energy-saving devices and employ advanced energy-efficient technologies. The design incorporates a new energy-saving system—propeller cap fins and energy-saving ducts—specifically developed by SDARI for this MR-type tanker, reducing main engine energy consumption and improving propulsion efficiency to further cut fuel consumption while meeting the latest regulatory requirements and EEDI Phase III standards. Additionally, the vessels feature a new tank-cleaning water system, allowing shipowners to handle cleaning water more conveniently in restricted areas. The cargo oil system adopts a flexible and efficient loading design, enabling the simultaneous transport of seven types of cargo. The design better meets market demands, enhancing competitiveness.
