On September 18th, the second 50,000-ton MR-type chemical tanker, CHB5004, built by Changhong International for Greece’s Laskaridis company, was successfully launched.
The 50,000-ton MR-type vessel, as one of the key ship types promoted by Changhong International in recent years, incorporates multiple advanced technologies in its design and construction process to enhance efficiency and environmental performance. The smooth progress of this series of ship types has also laid a solid foundation for the company to secure more orders of the same type in the future.
At the launching ceremony, the owner’s Technical Director Nikos Konstantinidis, Technical Manager Kosmas Kardabikis, the on-site supervision team, representatives from the LR classification society, and representatives from Changhong International took a group photo.
This type of vessel has an overall length of approximately 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a depth of 19.10 meters. It is equipped with advanced energy-saving devices and utilizes seawater cooling pumps and fan frequency conversion technology, making its operation more efficient. The main engine and generator employ SCR technology to reduce fuel consumption and meet the latest environmental regulations, while also complying with the EEDI Phase III standards. Furthermore, the configuration of a new tank cleaning water system provides convenience for the owner to handle tank wash water in restricted areas. Upon delivery, the classification society will issue the GR (ML, A) and EGCS-R (A, S) class notations, laying a solid foundation for future desulfurization retrofits and the use of more environmentally friendly methanol fuel.
