The Chilean Fruit Stone Committee published its first estimate for the 2025-2026 season, which anticipates an 11% growth in the total export volume, compared to the previous period, through the shipment of 40.5 million 8-kilo boxes each of peaches, nectarines, and plums.
In this regard, the executive director of the Committee, Ignacio Caballero, stated that the estimate was made with the participation of 44 companies that -collectively- represented 87% of the total stone fruit volume mobilized in 2024-2025.
“The projections for almost all stone fruit species show growth, led by plums, which show the highest increase at +15%,” detailed the professional.
In this way, the projection is to send 15.3 million 8-kilo boxes of nectarines (in total), representing a 5% increase. In particular, 10.2 million 8-kilo boxes (+14%) of white nectarines and 5.1 million 8-kilo boxes of yellow nectarines (+9%) will be exported.
Meanwhile, the estimate is to mobilize 15.6 million 7-kilo boxes of total Japanese plums. In its breakdown, a slight decrease of -1% is forecast for red Japanese plums (9.3 million 7-kilo boxes), but a growth of +5% for black Japanese plums (5.9 million 7-kilo boxes).
In turn, the plan is to export 6.2 million 9-kilo boxes of European plums (+15%) and place 3.4 million 8-kilo boxes of peaches in foreign markets, which would account for an 8% growth.
“This season we added a breakdown by destination markets for plums and nectarines. In this sense, we expect to export 18.1 million boxes of nectarines and plums to Asia, with a decrease of -3%. While to North America we foresee sending 10.6 million boxes with a 52% increase,” observed the Committee’s representative.
Caballero added that exports to Latin America are projected at 4.8 million boxes, showing a drop of -16%. Meanwhile, the projection for Europe is 3.7 million boxes, with a slight decrease of -2%.
