China ends border entry quarantine rule from January 8th

Must read

China is ending its border entry quarantine rule for
travellers from Sunday January 8th as part of China’s relatively
sudden move away from a zero-Covid policy and towards what looks like a rapid
“herd immunity” strategy.

The National Health Commission said that inbound
passengers would only be required to present a negative test result obtained
within 48 hours of boarding. As long as their health declarations are normal
and they show no signs of illness in a “routine check-up” while
clearing customs, they will not be subject to any special restrictions while in
the country.

Mass PCR testing upon arrival and centralized quarantine
has been abandoned.

China will gradually reopen its water and land ports, the
NHC said.
