Recently, with the support of Tianjin Lingang Customs, CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry’s Tianjin branch successfully implemented “direct pickup at shipside” for the imported thousand-ton marine engine, achieving the “optimal solution” for equipment transportation. This initiative saved over 1.8 million yuan in costs and significantly improved customs clearance efficiency.
The imported thousand-ton marine engine, as a core piece of equipment, posed challenges due to its massive size. Traditional transportation methods required unloading at public docks followed by barge transfers, which not only incurred an additional cost of 1.8 million yuan but also carried risks of equipment damage from multiple hoisting operations. Faced with this dilemma, CSSC Tianjin acted swiftly to find a solution. The Materials Department promptly communicated with Tianjin Lingang Customs, detailing the transportation challenges and the company’s needs while actively seeking policy support. Meanwhile, the Production Management Department, Design Department, and Assembly Manufacturing Department collaborated closely to assess dock capacity and develop a precise transportation and hoisting plan. Based on customs requirements and actual dock conditions, they tailored a “zero-error” transportation solution for the equipment.
Through meticulous coordination among all parties, the thousand-ton engine was hoisted into place accurately in a single operation. This ensured the equipment’s integrity while achieving cost reduction and efficiency gains, perfectly realizing the “direct pickup at shipside” approach.

The successful implementation of “direct pickup at shipside” fully demonstrates CSSC Tianjin’s proactive coordination and innovative problem-solving capabilities in complex scenarios. It also provides valuable experience for future large-scale equipment transportation, laying a solid foundation for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and high-quality development at CSSC Tianjin.
