Kazakhstan has announced preparations for the construction of a new seaport in Aktau, costing approximately $300 million. Nurdaulet Kilibay, Akim of the Mangystau Region, announced that the project is being implemented at the direction of the country’s president and is aimed at developing transport infrastructure and strengthening the region’s transit potential. The Chinese group Zhongyun International is a strategic partner and has already registered a company in the region, preparing documents for signing an investment agreement.
According to Kilibay, the future port will become a key link in a new international transport corridor between China and Europe, which will pass through Aktau, Baku, and Poti. The project will significantly speed up logistics: cargo delivery times could be reduced by 7-15 days, and transportation costs by 18-25%.
The construction is expected to create new jobs and enhance Aktau’s role as a strategic transit hub on the Caspian Sea, strengthening Kazakhstan’s position on routes between the East and Europe.
