On July 21, CIMC SOE (Nantong CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd.) held the steel-cutting ceremony for another 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessel (hull number: S1123) built for Avenir LNG Limited at the West Area Manufacturing Workshop. This marks another newbuild order secured by CIMC SOE from the shipowner after successfully delivering four vessels to Avenir LNG, demonstrating the continued deepening of cooperation between the two parties.
The ceremony was witnessed by Avenir LNG’s Technical Manager Tom, Project Manager Ber, and Site Manager Anders, alongside CIMC SOE leadership including Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Division; Na Xiaobin, Head of Quality Assurance; Yan Kai, Deputy Director of Shipbuilding Project Management; and other project team members.
The 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessel is one of the primary vessel types in the global LNG bunkering sector. With an overall length of 160 meters, a beam of 25 meters, and a design speed of 15.5 knots, the vessel is equipped with a WINGD dual-fuel main engine featuring iCER technology. Additionally, it offers the option for a high-voltage shore power system, significantly reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions throughout its lifecycle—effectively addressing the increasingly stringent environmental demands of the global shipping industry.
The successful commencement of the S1123 vessel represents another key milestone in the long-term, trust-based collaboration between CIMC SOE and Avenir LNG.
