ClassNK has introduced a new digital service to support ship operators in estimating the long-term financial impact of emissions regulations, including IMO mid-term measures, the EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS), and FuelEU Maritime.
The ‘ClassNK Fleet Cost Simulation’ service forms part of the ClassNK Transition Support Services framework. The service includes a ‘Fleet Cost Calculator’, a customisable Excel-based tool that allows users to model future cost scenarios using variables such as fuel price, ship replacement timing, and emissions performance.
Updates will be provided to reflect evolving regulatory requirements before new IMO GHG Fuel Intensity rules come into effect on December 31, 2027, the classification society says.
The service also includes a ‘Cost Estimation Report’, delivered in PowerPoint format, which presents projected compliance-related costs through to 2050. The report incorporates actual fuel consumption data and offers graphical summaries for business planning and reporting.
An optional advanced version of the report is available including simulations to optimise conversion timing and assess cost reduction strategies.
