On October 8, the “EVER ALLY,” a 24,000-TEU ultra-large container ship built by Hudong-Zhonghua for Evergreen Marine Corporation, was delivered at the western shipyard. This marks the successful completion of the project involving five sister ships built for Evergreen Marine, fully demonstrating the company’s exceptional capabilities and leading position in the global construction of ultra-large container ships.
At the delivery ceremony, Evergreen Marine’s site representative, Liu Xuedong, Deputy General Manager of Hudong-Zhonghua Changxing Shipbuilding, and Xiong Kechao, Senior Project Manager of the First Ship and Marine Business Department of China State Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., signed the delivery documents on behalf of their respective parties. Wang Jiaying, Assistant General Manager of Hudong-Zhonghua, the shipowner’s representative, and representatives from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) witnessed this important moment together.
Since the project’s commencement, Hudong-Zhonghua has coordinated high-quality resources, prioritized the allocation of manpower and materials, and made every effort to ensure the high-quality and efficient delivery of the ship. The project’s success is attributed to the deep involvement and strong support of the shipowner. Evergreen Marine and its construction supervision team consistently worked side-by-side with the company’s project team, providing full trust and efficient support in technical communication, production coordination, and problem-solving, thereby offering a solid guarantee for the smooth progress of the project.
The 24,000-TEU ultra-large container ship, independently designed and built by Hudong-Zhonghua, has an overall length of 399.99 meters, a molded breadth of 61.5 meters, and a molded depth of 33.2 meters. It is currently the world’s largest ship type in terms of container capacity and is hailed as the “King of Cargo Hauling” at sea. Equipped with a hybrid scrubber system and adopting the latest global design solutions for environmental protection, high efficiency, energy saving, and safety and reliability, its unique features such as a small bulbous bow, large-diameter propeller, and energy-saving ducts fully demonstrate the vessel’s high-speed performance and low energy consumption.
The efficient delivery of the “EVER ALLY” stems from the project team’s firm commitment to the philosophy of “each ship better and faster than the last.” Building on the construction experience gained from the first four sister ships (“EVER AIM,” “EVER ART,” “EVER ACT,” “EVER ACE”), the team focused on key areas such as material preparation, process implementation, and production coordination. Using lean management as a tool and process innovation as a breakthrough, they continuously optimized the construction process, significantly improved the completeness of work in the dock, shortened the pier period, and achieved a “dual improvement” in both construction quality and speed, earning high praise from the shipowner.
Hudong-Zhonghua has always adhered to the philosophy of “Customer First, Continuous Improvement,” working hand-in-hand with global partners to build many world-class premium vessels. The successful delivery of the “EVER ALLY” not only marks a perfect conclusion to the Evergreen series but also lays a solid foundation for the company to fully achieve its 2025 annual delivery targets.
