FRENCH Shipping giant cma CGM has imposed the sum of US$900 per TEU as Peak Season Surcharge on cargoes coming through from China to Nigeria.

The Marseille-based container carrier also applied the Peak Season Surcharge on the ports of other West African countries including Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea.

The surcharge will take effect from April 29 (loading date) until further notice, according to Lagos’ Ships&Ports.

The French carrier has also introduced a separate surcharge of $500 per TEU from North and Central China to the West Africa South Range , covering destinations such as Angola, Congo, DRC, Namibia, Gabon, and Cameroon.

CMA CGM said both surcharges are applicable to dry cargo.
